The last company to show interest in autonomous vehicles was Coca Cola, the world-renowned beverage maker. The autonomous robot, which the firm uses to host visitors at Alton Towers, is equipped with GPS technology, image, sound and motion sensors.
Although the name Alton Towers resembles the new tower business centres of a construction firm, it is actually the name of an amusement park located in Birmingham, England. Autonomous robots serve Coca Cola in this entertainment center.
Coca Cola European partners (CCEP) holds the title of the world's largest Coca Cola filling company. CCEP is working with autonomous vehicle firm TeleRetail for the robots used at Alton Towers.
In the trials, robots deliver drinks they receive from the Alton Towers supply center to people at the amusement park. Manoeuvring using artificial intelligence, the vehicle leverages GPS, vision, sound and motion detection technologies to detect its surroundings.
If the trials are successful, CCEP and Alton Towers plan to continue using these tools.
